When a girl (Jayla Rodriguez, 8) died because of a pack of feral dogs South Dakota decided to try to fix the problem of having about 600 feral dogs according to the article. The girl dreamed of opening a animal shelter. “In the last week we have transported 165 dogs off the reservation…” so they really are helping the animals out which is really good. Below are some links that would really help them out.

Happy Tails adoption page (adopt some of the animals they rescued off the reservation)

donate (or even foster animals)

fundraising page (benefits the LightShine Canine rescue group working on the reservation)

It’s good that they are working on the problem of feral animals. Taking animals off the streets and finding homes for them is a beautiful process. Well not so much in the beginning. But seeing the animals, who are sometimes scared at first, transform into energetic animals who devote their love to a person is amazing. I used to volunteer at CARA and I would love it when someone adopted an animal. Just seeing how happy the animal is to get a new home was definitely worth volunteering.

Thanksgiving Break

I haven’t been posting recently due to thanksgiving break. Spending time with my family and friends and such. :3

Anyway. So even though Christmas isn’t here yet CARA is doing a fundraiser. “Santa Paws” is coming to town this Saturday, December 6 actually.

It’s on the front page. It’s at Big Bloomers Flower Farm. 275 Pressly Foushee Rd, Sanford, NC, 27330. The cost is 5$ per group. I’m not sure how much a group is but it seems cool. I’m thinking of going. Donations can be made such as food and supplies for the animals. After all animals love to play, well some of them. Maybe not the cranky cats.

Animals can also be adopted which would be a nice Christmas present for them–a new home.

Well even if you can’t make donations or adopt an animal, going and seeing all the animals will definitely bring happiness to the heart.

ASPCA on Puppy Mills

I found this website: http://www.aspca.org/fight-cruelty/puppy-mills

The website above explains a lot about animals that live in a puppy mill. You can even get a look inside a puppy mill. They are not in good living conditions.

On February 5, 2010, under the authority and request of the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office, the ASPCA dispatched members of its Field Investigations and Response Team to assist in the investigation of a puppy mill operating in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

More than 95 dogs, including small breeds such as Shih Tzus, Lhasa Apsos, Pugs, Yorkshire Terriers, Corgis and Chihuahuas, as well as one cat, were seized from the property. The severely underweight animals were housed in feces—encrusted pens and suffering from neglect—skin disease, rotted teeth, malnutrition, fur matted with feces, and various other infections were rampant. Several dead adult dogs and puppies were also discovered on the property. (http://www.aspca.org/fight-cruelty/field-investigations-and-response-team/puppy-mills/holly-springs-mississippi-february)

There are many other puppy mills that are experiencing the same problem. Something good is that stores will sell dogs and puppies from a puppy mill. Petsense and petsmart are two places that are good to get animals from.

Here is a bit of a list of places to get animals from.

Well that’s all for this post. Have a good day or night.

First Post

As this is my first post I am going to explain what my blog is about. The blog is for anyone who is against animal cruelty. There will be petitions to sign, donations and fundraisers, as well as stories about animals that may or may not have managed to find homes.

Animals are being abused everyday. An example would be puppy mills. Animals shouldn’t be shoved into cramped areas, they should have room to move around. Puppy mills is only one of the problems though. Kill shelters are also a problem. When an animal can’t get adopted they kill it. One way to think about it is think of animals like people. After all they have feelings like people and they pretty much act like people. Anyway we don’t like shoving people or children into dark cramped areas. What if we killed children whenever they don’t get adopted? It’s just not right. It isn’t the animals’ fault that it can’t get adopted. A solution would be to take animals to non-kill shelters where they hold onto the animal until it gets a home. Then there is fostering. People can take care of animals temporarily until it gets a permanent home. Puppy mills can have bigger areas for them to run around. Cages don’t need to be almost as big as the animal. Pretty much in order to stop cruelty to animals the puppy mills and kill shelters need to realize that they aren’t needed anymore. If people would stop taking animals to these places then it won’t be a problem.

I’ll be posting more on here with websites for petitions and such.
